Yawning lazily, Devan turned down the heat in the vehicle and turned up the radio. It was too warm in his truck, and clearly it was making him more sleepy than he needed to be. The music would help, but not if he got too comfortable from the temperature. The sound of rock music entered his ears through the speakers, thumping every so often and sending small vibrations into his seat. A small smirk appeared on his face then, pleased with his stereo system and glad beyond words that his parents had rewarded him for his birthday with something he'd actually wanted. "Thank you mom and dad." He said, regardless of the absence of passengers in his truck. The roads were dark, but since his parents house was just outside of the city they had just enough street lights to keep him from feeling too anxious that he'd run into something on accident. As he pulled into Caelan's driveway, he turned down the stereo and called out for his partner in crime. "Callyyyy!! Hurry up!" As if that wasn't enough, he reached over in the passenger seat and grabbed his cell phone and began calling the boy so he'd have his fair warning. It was safe to say that Devan was a bit tired, and really just wanted to get this over with so he could go home and sleep some more. The hunter's association didn't usually give him jobs to do since he was so young still, however, his parents encouraged the higher ups to give him something to do to help train him for the big leagues and Devan didn't mind -in fact he wholeheartedly accepted it. Setting the cellphone to his ear Devan wondered if Cael would even answer. Devan honked on the horn of his truck just to double check he wasn't being ignored. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan hadn't been up to anything, around this time he would watch for things. Some sort of signs or something along those lines. Honestly he wasn't sure what tonight would hold. So many bad things could happen, he'd rather not think about it though. His brother had enough issues because of that. With a small sigh, he heard that ringtone interrupt his thoughts. "Ugh...my head hurts...Too loud stupid phone." He picked it up and just answered the phone, why was Devan so impatient. Not like they had a big job or anything.
Well technically all these jobs were big in some form or another. Really. He did not want to deal with this. But the job would be over once it was over basically. "Yea yea got it, jeez you act like I'm a slow poke or something." He rolled his eyes as he fished around for his keys, and slipped them into his pocket. Since Devan brought the car he didn't need the bike. Which was a bit disappointing but it meant less work for him almost.
He just made sure to turn off all the lights but one in the house, and walk out the front door. Locking down the house and arming the security before he left as well. With his parents out of town it meant he had the house to himself. Well minus the times he had to share with Nate. That kid had his own ways of doing things, but he was always so odd but Caelan let it go. Devan was being pushy as usually and wanted some attention, or something.
Either way the work had to be done so Devan needed to cool his jets for a bit. Or they'd never get anywhere with anything. Plopping down in his seat, he just leaned back in the seat then glanced over Devan. "So why are you being so pushy? bored or something?" He needed to ask that, it was a standard thing.
Plus knowing Devan for as long as he did, the boy was always impatient. He must have picked that up from his parents, seeing as they could be the same way sometimes. According to Caelan's parents anyway. He just glanced over at Devan, and waited. The boy needed to say something before Caelan just got up and started walking, or went back to his bike. One of the two really. Caelan tugged at his jacket, he would have brought the one he liked to wear but he'd rather not get blood or anything on that one. Swimming jackets had to be clean, or he'd have to throw it out.
"Let's just get this over with, it'll be fun." That was sarcasm almost, he did not want to work today. He was way too tired to even think about work but coffee and those energy drinks he had helped wake him up. The sooner this job was over the better. |

He could see that there were still lights on in the house, so Caelan had to be home. Devan heard a voice suddenly speak though the cell phone in his hand and turned down the radio just a tad bit more. He rolled his eyes at the comment made, but didn't say anything more besides a quick, "Hurry up." He didn't drop the call until he saw Caelan exit the house though, after watching the lights slowly shut off one by one. Tossing his phone into the glove box with the rest of his things he glanced over at Caelan as he stood in front of the passenger door and quickly unlocked the truck so he could get in. He sat back up, this time a small grin adorning his features as his friend hopped into his vehicle. "Yes I'm bored, and might I add tired. I hate having to do this at night just because those things are active. Messes up my sleep schedule." Devan complained, sitting back in his seat and raising his right hand to adjust the rear view mirror. When he heard the remark from Caelan about this being 'fun', he couldn't help but scoff. "Yea right. Trivial, and boring, but definitely not fun." Devan shook his head and waited for Cael to get settled before pulling out of his driveway and making their way into the location specified in their job details. As he passed street light by street light, Devan realized he hadn't seen any weapons on Caelan when he got in and wondered if he'd forgotten them. Were they tucked away in his clothes. "Do you have any weapons on you? Oh, and for the record you are slow. If I have to turn back because you forgot your stuff you so owe me." Devan didn't want to waste time turning back, but if he had to than he'd have to. It wasn't usually like Caelan to not be prepared, but he seemed a bit tired too and they were both human -despite how Devan was beginning to think otherwise for Cally's sake. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan only rolled his eyes forcing his phone into his pocket after Devan hung up on him. This was irritating, seriously just what the heck was he getting into. This whole job thing on a school night had been normal. Once he was old enough to hunt he'd be hunting, and he somehow managed to not fail school. That was a miracle in itself really. Now that he was thinking about anyway. Maybe he needed to think of it differently as well. Why was Devan telling him to hurry? The male was usually so relaxed. He always wanted to take his sweet time doing things, so for Devan to be serious this had to be somewhat important.
Though he might not entirely understand it either. Shrugging his shoulders he just wondered what was going to happen. This mission wasn't going to be a bad one or a good one, he didn't even know what it was yet. Devan hadn't told him. Not like he would. The boy probably forgot. With a sigh he just looked towards the window, watching the house. He knew his house was empty now and no one would be there. Nate was gone, his parents were gone somewhere at the same time. So this was just how it went. He needed to get this over with so he could get some sleep for the night, or well the day tomorrow. Caelan skipped school enough as it was right now, with that and every other normal activity this was just not good for him. But he shook it off, then glanced back over at Devan. "So what are we doing anyway? It's not that boring is it?" He would not want to deal with this. He'd rather just shrug it off and go elsewhere. That was all.
"You get used to it Devan." Caelan did, and he started at a young age. So he was already barely sleeping, well okay not entirely. He slept most of his day away. At least he wasn't completely clueless so he could finish his homework too, his parents would lecture him otherwise. Caelan yawned and lifted up his jacket and shirt, the weapons were strapped to the inside of his jacket, and some were under his shirt. Caelan never left his house unprepared. And he had thought Devan would figure it out by now. He knew how to make things work, and he was always good at hiding weapons in places. Places people didn't think to look at that.
Caelan just leaned against the window, waiting for this. He wanted to get this job done and just go back home. Why did he have to do so many activities in one day, he was only human. Well stronger then a human probably, but still a human. |

Devan was impatient when he was without decent sleep, didn't eat, or lost in any situation. In this case it would be the sleep deprivation but he didn't want Caelan to think that he wasn't mentally prepared for this, so he decided not to mention it. Since Cael also didn't say a word about his weapons, Devan simply assumed he was hiding them, and left his complaints at that. He'd get used to it huh? Devan ran his fingers through his hair, sighing briefly to himself as he thought about that. He didn't really want to get used to it, but neither of them really had much of a choice. Being born into families lie theirs made their lived incidentally endangered and risk filled. He cleared his throat, not really wanting to talk about it any more than he was sure Caelan did. They had more important things to worry about. "Did you not get a message?" Devan thought for sure the Association would have given Caelan one as well, since they were practically partners in this, but he'd assumed wrong apparently. "Dammit you're not supposed to be going are you? If I get in trouble.." Devan really didn't want to think about that either. They'd just have to hurry with this, take care of it quickly then go back home. "A couple of Level E's have been spotted in one of the neighborhoods outside of the city. Shouldn't take long to take them out. Just leave most of it up to me."@ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan had too much patience, he'd dealt with this for years. So missions, and laying in wait. It was all what he did. Nothing would change his mind on that one. Or so he thought anyway. But was he even right? Perhaps not. For some reason he couldn't shake that feeling of something bad happening. Caelan glanced out the window with a yawn, and just rested his head against the window. It felt cool on his skin, which was good for him. This mission was one he wanted to get over with already so he could go back home. Right? This wasn't so bad, not in his mind apparently. But why was he going? This mission wasn't his, he just didn't tell Devan no. He couldn't do that. "Nope, but whatever I'm going anyway, you have to finish the mission though not me." Caelan was the back up nothing more. And probably nothing else at all either. Who knew. This was one of those complicated matters. With a small smirk, he just sat up and looked over at Devan.
"You aren't nervous for your solo mission are you? Come on man we all have to do them at some point." That was pretty much where it went. Caelan still kinda remembered his, the giant scar on his shoulder was what remained from that. It stung when the weather got bad, but other than that he barely noticed it. That was just there pretty much, and he did not entirely like it. He just hoped Devan would be better off, and not get too many bad injuries, didn't need to scar him bad like some of the other hunters were. Caelan had become used to it, but at first he wanted to vomit at the sight of some of those wounds, and scars left behind by the monsters they hunted every single night. "You'll be fine dude, you trained under the best after all." He knew Devan could do that, right? And he was going to keep saying that.
"Oh you won't get in trouble idiot. They let other people go, the test is yours though not mine. We only jump in if you are going to die, so don't die." He said with that usual expression on his face. This wasn't so bad, he just shrugged it off. Devan needed to do this little mission after all and actually get somewhere with this. As much as both of them probably didn't want to. They would rather be playing games than constantly being forced to work on this sort of stuff.
"Yea yea got it, you can do most of it. Just let's get this over with I want to go home and take a bath." He said he knew he would need one anyway. After all his body was going to have vampire guts all over it. Which was another thing he had become used to lately. |

"Tch, of course I'm not nervous. It's not like this is going to be hard." He hadn't been fully accepted into the Association yet, but Devan really wasn't trying to rush with it. He was well aware that it would put more of a strain on him, and only put more of a risk on his life than what was already present. He would be lying if he said he wasn't afraid of death, but he refused to admit to being afraid of any stupid vampire. "I'm not gonna die, and neither will you." He said, his voice dark and serious. He couldn't joke about something like that, especially when it came to Caelan. They'd been together since birth and the last thing he wanted was for Cael to get hurt. He wouldn't allow it, no matter what this job description entailed. Devan glanced over at Caelan for a brief moment. His green hues taking in his friend and allowing him to noticeably relax. A small smile appeared on his features at Caelan's last words, and he nodded in acknowledgement. "Sure thing." He said simply, pressing a little harder on the gas. It wouldn't kill them if he sped just a little bit, and at any rate it allowed them to get to their destination quickly. Devan slowed once they got to the neighborhood in question. It was far darker here than it had been while at Caelan's house, admittedly, this did make him uncomfortable. Devan turned and pulled the car off of the side of the road, parking it in the ditch beside a long row of trees. Oh how he hated so many damn trees. Too much coverage, too many places to hide. He seized the engine and hopped out of the truck, walking around the front cautiously as he took in his surroundings and met Caelan at his side. He always kept his weapons in his glove box, and in the trunk, but for this occasion he didn't think he'd need more than a couple of anti-vampire guns. He moved around Caelan and popped the glove box, pulling out two handguns from it before shutting it once more. He checked to make sure the safety was off of each before turning his attention to Caelan. "Ready?"@ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Maybe they'd end this already, he wanted to go back home. Caelan didn't like constantly working every single night it only frustrated him. Even hunters needed at least one day off. And with how many hunters existed they didn't need to always work now did they? Right. Either way he'd shrug it off, then focus on something else instead. "Good you don't need to be nervous after all, you can handle this with how strong you are." Maybe Caelan was just feeding his ego a little bit but he knew Devan could handle it. Devan would be strong, or at least he hoped he would. Either way by now it might not do them much good. Getting over confident had a habit of getting people killed. Devan would need to learn that if he hadn't already pretty much. Caelan had given up being worried about death. At least when it came to himself anyway, why would he? "Yea got it, like I plan on dying." He shook his head, and just leaned back in the seat. He had no reason to care. Death was not bad.
Never had been, but Caelan wasn't going to let it happen either. Not now. He was a young thing and so was Devan, so being reckless was just way too stupid. Pretty much. Caelan would only nod then try to go back to other things. Right now he didn't want to dig into this, they were going on a mission nothing else. They didn't need to drag other things into this, It'd only cause a few issues for them both. Mostly Devan. After all this was his mission not Caelan's. If Caelan fucked it up he'd feel horrible, so he kept most of his thoughts and concerns to himself for now. Which was for the best right now. Caelan just climbed out of the car when it stopped stretching till he heard his back crack. He felt sore sitting in the car. This was not good, he hated cars for that reason, it made him feel all weird, and cramped.
"Yea I'm ready. Now come on let's go. Before it gets any darker here." He did not want to be out here when it got any darker. The vampires were restless at night it was why most humans were smart to stay indoors instead. They'd live if that happened, but of course humans were also morons. They had always been in some form or another, he noticed that much. He pulled the hilt out from under his jacket and shook it once so the blade flicked out, he was not bothered. Caelan always kept his weapons on him. He might as well be a walking weapon factory by this point. Apparently. Though did it even matter? Who knew. He shrugged his shoulders then put the blade over his right shoulder.
"Well come on Devan, let's go I wanna see the targets." With a laugh he just walked, waiting for Devan a little bit though he was pretending not to almost. Caelan wanted to find Devan's target than get out of here at the very least that was all. |

Devan smirked when he saw Caelan pull out the big ass 'knife' from his jacket. Of course he had been carrying something on him. It explained why he didn't mention that he'd left anything at home before. Devan shut the door of his truck firmly after locking it down, and turned to catch up to Caelan. "Just so we're clear, you don't have to get involved unless I really need it." Devan didn't want Cael to get in the way, but really he just didn't want to see him get hurt. Devan loaded each of his guns, before staring off ahead of them down the barren street. There were thick trees at either side of the road, making the entire scene appear darker than it actually was. The sun had mostly set about two hours ago, and he knew that the Level E's would start prowling soon. They were essentially making themselves bate by being so out in the open like this, but Devan didn't mind. Better them come at him rather than making him wander around this neighborhood for hours. "So, have you heard of that new school that just opened?" Devan was curious if Caelan had heard of the news. His parents had been talking about it for a while and continued to bicker back and forth about why it was a terrible idea. Devan was curious about it, but he too worried that it would be a complete mistake. Vampires and humans coexisting seemed a near impossible feat, but under the right circumstances maybe this new school would be the start of something good. "My parents, they're all torn up about it, but I was thinking I might transfer there." Secretly he wanted Caelan to come with, but he wouldn't pressure the guy into doing anything he didn't want to. Really he just wanted to hear his opinion, curious what he thought and what he'd say. They rarely ever judged each other, but he feared that Caelan would over something like this. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need He just looked at the weapon in his hand and sighed, this was slightly irritating. A mission like this, what was Caelan supposed to say. He'd rather not have this life, but he would be in danger already. Since he'd been killing since the moment he was born, or well he had been taught to kill since he was born. His first toy was probably some sort of fake knife that wouldn't hurt him. Or maybe a real one, his parents were nice but they were all set on him being a hunter and nothing else. No matter what he did apparently. With a small laugh he just put the blade over the shoulders, feeling it push against the fabric of his shirt. "Come on dude let's just go." This was all he said right now, he didn't plan to stand here for very long. Devan couldn't make him, he'd just go hunt someone else if the male didn't move on. Though he'd rather not leave him alone either. Letting him get hurt was really bad.
But he wouldn't comment on that, they had enough to think about. Pretty much. With a slight jump in his step he started to walk again. This wasn't so bad was it? Apparently. "Yea yea got it, I'm not supposed to help you anyway. Against the rules remember." He didn't like being told no, he really hated being told no. What if Devan got hurt, but Devan said he would only ask if he needed help. So Caelan would stay out of the way and let him do the work for now. As much as that ticked him off just a little bit right now. "The new school? Yea I heard about that...It's not so bad I guess, The idea of what is in that school upsets me a little. But eh. You really want to go there?" He wasn't against it, but Caelan didn't like the idea of those other things in that school. He wasn't a big fan of them to begin with since they hunted things like that on a nightly basis.
"Why do you want to go so badly? Your parents probably just don't like the whole vampire thing, I know my parents don't. The second they heard about it they just didn't shut the hell up." He spun the blade in his hand, just watching it move and glint in the light. Really he was having too much fun with this. Caelan could be easily amused by right now he was trying to calm his stresses and keep from saying something. After all spilling his guts was not good. He needed to spill the vampire guts not his own basically.
Caelan didn't care what Devan wanted to do, the idea of that school was just a tad bit weird to him. So he wanted to know why Devan wanted to go so badly. |

"It's not that I'm dying to go. That's not it." He frowned, disliking the way Caelan had said that for some reason. It made him feel like him wanting to go was so wrong already. "I just think that it would be better for people like us to be there." All of those human students, they needed to be protected, and even though he felt respect for a senior hunter Devan didn't know what sort of procedures Alexander had in place. "It's open to hunters too, so I figured why not?" Caelan seemed so opposed to the idea already Devan didn't want to ask anything of him now. He wasn't ready to join the hunter association yet, but in the meantime he felt useless and wasteful. At least if he joined Arden and made some form of use of his training he wouldn't feel like such a waste of space. Though he couldn't say the same for Caelan. Cael was a natural at what their parents did. It made sense that his parents encouraged him to pursue hunting over anything else, considering he was so good at it, but Devan still wanted time for himself. He was conflicted, but he'd never tell anyone that for fear of becoming estranged from his peers and the entire hunter clan. "Whatever, it doesn't really matter. I was just curious what you thought about it is all."If Caelan didn't go he'd get over it. It wasn't like they didn't see each other on a daily basis anyway. Even if he went to that boarding school, their relationship wouldn't change. Devan just wanted an excuse to hog Caelan's time, and deep down he hoped that he'd be able to keep him from going out and fully joining the hunters association. Devan didn't have many qualms with it, but if his friend joined, chances are they would hardly, if ever see each other again. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need "I guess so, but the parents don't approve of that do they? So let's just pack and go?" He laughed a bit, he wasn't entirely joking either. Caelan wasn't one to joke, as much as his parents annoyed him sometimes. He didn't entirely enjoy them being controlling or trying to push him into things pretty much. Hunters were meant to kill those things, they weren't supposed to make friends with them or anything. Basically. Though it probably didn't matter. Caelan was just going to ignore this, and he'd rather shrug it off somehow. "Come on man, let's just finish this. If that school is that interesting, maybe we can talk them into letting you go." That was all he said. After all letting Devan go would probably be good for him. Now if they said anything else who knew. Caelan wasn't sure what to do. "I'm not so sure about the school, hunting is all I know. Devan...you like that school idea? Hunters and vampires under one roof?" He had to ask, it wasn't Caelan judging him. And the look on his face spoke of that.
"Devan? I um...nevermind." He just smiled at him, then looked away. They were supposed to be hunting. He had to keep remembering that. He couldn't just let go, or have things go a bad way. Simple as that really. Yet he almost wanted to just make it all stop. More or less. Perhaps he wasn't supposed to be getting into things again. Since it'd probably only make him awkward, or stressed again. Caelan didn't know what to say, what was he supposed to do? He wasn't the boy's parents, but he needed to help him. That person needed his help. With a roll of his eyes he looked around for the targets. Trying to think over his words once again. What was he going to do? It might not help yet he couldn't be certain either.
"Hey...Devan. Look." He pointed ahead of them, and showed Devan something. Vampires, wandering around. So it seemed the blood suckers were out now. Great. But were they the ones they needed to find. He'd leave that to Devan to find out. It wasn't Caelan's mission after all, or he'd have been called on this one as well. Though usually he worked together with Devan because he didn't want anything or anyone else. Caelan looked from Devan back to the targets. He was not so worried about this now. But he'd rather just deal with it. With a small sigh he would rather not dwell on it. "Come on, you can do it. If you need help, remember I'm right here." He said as he just leaned back, he was just watching this.
"And Devan...nevermind I'll tell you later." This was alright for him. He knew they'd be able to talk after this mission was over. |

It was difficult to say whether his parents would actually want, or rather allow him to attend Arden, but whatever the case Devan felt that it was ultimately his decision no matter what. His parents could gripe all they want, but he had his ways. He could convince them that it was an okay idea, enough so they wouldn't bother him about it. There were a lot of things that he did they wouldn't approve of, among many of them his feelings for Caelan. Though he still hadn't told anyone about it, it was sort of an unspoken truth between him and the stoic young man walking beside him. "I'm not worried about them. I can convince my parents." He wasn't sure about Caelan's, but he had a habit of doing what he wanted anyway regardless of what they said. They were both a bit rebellious in that way, therefore Devan could understand, but he wasn't even sure that Cael would want to go even if he asked. In truth Devan had already filled out paperwork, sent in his application, and had essentially been accepted all within the week. The reality was, that he hadn't told anyone about it. He'd hoped to tell Caelan, but he seemed more opposed than for the idea of going, and Devan didn't want to pressure him. Being a hunter as well, he knew that Caelan would have reasons similar to his about why supporting such a school wasn't exactly a good idea. He too didn't want to bring Caelan into the drama of it, so he'd just drop the subject for now and tell him that he'd been accepted later when he'd managed to pack up some of his stuff to leave. He was chewing on his lower lip when he glanced over at Caelan after hearing him say his name. He was prepared to ask him 'What', curious what Caelan would say, but when he simply dismissed himself with a 'nevermind' Devan turned his cheek and lowered his eyes. He didn't know what Caelan was going to say, but he feared that if he found out it would just make him feel uncomfortable. Therefore, despite his intrigue, he didn't ask him what he'd wanted to say. The atmosphere between them became awkward and heavy. He could practically cut the tension with a knife, regardless of the fact that he was supposed to be focused on the task at hand. When Caelan spoke up once more, he looked to him, before turning his eyes to where his friend pointed. A Level E. Devan wondered briefly to himself where the other one might be, though he took a step forward regardless. His entire body had stiffened. His hands holding the guns at either side more firmly. He stopped and glanced over his shoulder at Caelan as he continued, a small smile appearing on Devan's features in an attempt to relieve him of his potential worry. "They're mindless. I think I can handle it." He said, confident that this wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. However, hearing Caelan stammer again, with that 'nevermind' and his unfinished dialogue. It made Devan worry that there was something wrong. "Okay," but he couldn't bother Cael about it, not right now. He turned, leaving Caelan behind, returning his attention to the monster that was still distracted. He could tell that it was searching for a potential victim, and even though they weren't cut anywhere, he was certain it'd be able to smell the scent of their human blood at any second. To rush along the process Devan whistled. Still walking casually towards the creature, he watched as he sharply turned his head to look at him. Teeth barred, Devan could tell that it had recently fed on something and his entire being felt a surge of panic at the sight of it. "Shit." He growled under his breath, raising his right hand, aiming his anti-vampire weapon at the monster, but before he could pop off it bolted in the opposite direction. What the hell? That wasn't normal. Level E's hardly ever ran away. If anything he'd waited for it to come at him but not to run away from potential prey. Devan had no choice, he had to follow. Despite how he'd be leaving Caelan behind, Devan ran after the monster, doing his best to keep up with it as it turned down a street into a street lined with houses. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan at least wanted Devan to follow his dreams, he needed to. Since he probably had more plans then following this hunter thing. Basically. It was all he knew right now. The boy didn't know anything else, but he'd shrug this off somehow. Apparently. Caelan just looked at the male as he wandered off. He knew Devan could do this, and all he could do was watch, so Caelan found the highest point and jumped onto a roof. Moving to walk along them then keep an eye on Devan. He was not supposed to get involved until he needed to. Basically. Pretty much this was not one of those ways he wanted to go through with this. "Come on Devan, you know what to do. Don't let that training go to waste." One couldn't blame him for hoping Devan would get somewhere or do this right. He wanted him to do well after all. And not just because of what it might mean for him. He had no control over where Devan wanted to go with his life pretty much.
He leaned against the chimney of the house and watched. Devan seemed to have his plans in mind already. So much for this being awkward. That is until the monster ran away? A Level E ran away! Really? Why? It confused him, and Caelan couldn't help it. That feeling that was starting to get into his chest again was so hard to make go away. What was he supposed to do. It confused him a lot right now. And he'd just have to deal with this wouldn't he? As much as he'd rather not do that. He waited to see what Devan would do. How could Devan handle this. He did not like that feeling he got. But of course he'd just let it go. For now. Perhaps this was alright, Devan seemed to be okay. Caelan's worries were not easy to hide but he needed to just attempt to ignore them somehow apparently.
"Devan be careful..." He chewed his bottom lip as he just kept to the back, out of the way of them. And mostly out of sight too. He didn't need any pure bloods, or level E's or even D's picking up his scent. The humans were all over though and hunters didn't have different scents. Basically. More or less this was just how it went. And he'd have to deal with that detail. Caelan would not show how nervous he felt. So what if they weren't doing this mission together. Devan was being tested, and Caelan had to remember that. He did not allow Devan to help him, which in turn meant he could only help Devan when and if it was needed. So far it didn't seem to need to be but this was different and strange. The way they acted, it was just weird.
"Don't panic Devan, the second you panic they knock you down..." He whispered to himself as he observed, he was taking notes on this. He would do this each time. Just the small things Devan needed to improve on. This could really kill him, it wasn't just some game where nothing bad happened. That'd just be way too easy if that was the case anyway. But all Caelan could do was observe and pray nothing happened. His feelings were all jumbled messes right now so that didn't help. He settled on the roof and watched Devan and the Level E, doing his best to hide his scent. Keep it mingled with other humans for now. |

If it fed recently it only meant more of a pain for him. The thing would be quicker, stronger. He'd really have to go at it now, especially if the damn demon kept running away. Devan was beginning to think that this vampire was something more than just an ex-human. Perhaps he hadn't lost his sanity yet, and still had the rationality to run from a hunter with a weapon rather than come at him full force. If that were the case than he'd need to end this quick before it decided to set up some sort of trap and get away. It wasn't common for reports to come in wrong, but even if the association underestimated a vampire on their hit list it wouldn't entirely surprise him. Devan breathed was becoming ragged as he chased after the target in question, worried that it would try and enter one of these houses where the people were just trying to sleep the long day off. He couldn't be too loud, and he was certain that this thing knew that. "Catch me, catch me, you can't catch meee" Devan's eyes grew wide again. This was definitely not a Level E. Ex human's couldn't form full fledged sentences like that. As it began to laugh cackling int he darkness of the street Devan narrowed his eyes and shot twice from the pistol in his right hand. He missed the first time, his aim slightly off from having to run and fire at the same time, but the second managed to cut into the vampires leg. However, it didn't go down and simply kept running. It was the blood, it had to have been. Devan hoped, despite his love of animals, that it had just been from a dog or some stray cat somewhere. The reaction given by the, now assumed, level D was not what he'd expected. It glanced back at him still laughing as if the injury meant nothing, and instead of running down the street it turned and ran into the backyard of one of the houses. Devan was keeping himself fully alert, still wary as to where the other one had gone. There were supposed to be two. Devan had no idea where Caelan was but he hoped that he wasn't anywhere near any of this, he didn't need the distraction and he knew at the moment if he had to keep an eye on Cael it could get them both in serious trouble. The level D sprung over the fences with ease and bee lined into the tree cover behind the houses. Devan immediately felt a sense of dread the moment it did, but nevertheless he followed. Somewhat thankful that they were moving out of the immediate vicinity of the homes filled with the innocent, and into more battle ready grounds. However, with the introduction of tree Devan had to watch his step to avoid tripping in the roots that were hidden by the few inches of snow and ice. He fired off another round, feeling comfortable enough to let loose now that they were at a safe distance from the sleeping civilians. He raised both hands, guns at the ready and fired until the level D burst into nothing but dust and ashes. Swallowing hard, Devan walked up to the pile of what was left of the monster, slightly out of breath as he stared down at it and frowned. He was slightly triumphant, but he hadn't won the gold yet. "One more." He said to himself. One more and they could go home. Devan put away one of his weapons behind his back, and held the single pistol in his right hand. He turned slightly to see if Caelan had been following close behind but stopped when he heard the sound of someone voice. "Well well, aren't you good at your job, little hunter." He stopped, completely frozen, before he turned and looked in the direction of the strangers voice. However, he didn't get a single word in before felt roots from the trees slither over his shoes and around his legs. He tried kicked them off at first, to run away, but it didn't work to his advantage. Devan slipped in the snow twisting his ankle and sending a surge of pain up his side as he fell. He struggled to move and gather himself but even as he tried it was useless. Roots from the trees wormed their way out of the cold earth and wrapped around him tightly. Devan growled from the constricting tightness that was applied to his rib cage, causing him to gasp and strain to breath even more than he had before. It was so dark that he couldn't see well in the shadowed forest who was doing this, until the criminal stepped into his view and knelt down beside him. "Sorry about this, I have nothing against you kiddo." It was a man with long blonde hair. He was wearing a nice suit and jacket. Devan didn't recognize him as being a pureblood. Was he a noble? He tried moving his gun out, and pointed it at the stranger weakly. He didn't seem mildly affected by it at all, and even grinned at him pleasantly as if he were handing him a bouquet of flowers instead. Devan didn't understand this, but as the tree roots tightened around his chest he understood why. He couldn't compare. "Aagh!"He growled, gasping for air, his grasp on his weapon weak. The gun was easily taken away from him then, as the man tossed it away, discarding it as if it were a piece of trash. "You don't need that." @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it
