Devan smiled pleased that Caelan was agreeing with him just a little. It did help that his mother encouraged Cael to stay over as well, for if he knew that he didn't have an adult to back him up that Caelan might still try to be rebellious towards his offer. Devan hissed suddenly as his mother dabbed rubbing alcohol onto his exposed bite, but kept himself still enough so it wouldn't make things worse. He wanted to swear to high heaven, but chances are it would just piss her off so he kept his mouth shut as well until she was done and began to cover the bite with a clean bandage. After she was done Devan tried to sit up on his own without telling her about his ribs, but it was obvious that he was in pain there while he stifled a few curse words under his breath. Devan's mother frowned, concerned and displeased with her sons inability to be responsible. She helped push him further into a sitting position, seeing as how he wouldn't stay still anyhow. Before he could tell her what hurt, she began moving her hands down each rib testing it with pressure. When he flinched she'd stop and make sure that nothing was broken before giving him a pass. "Nothing seems broken, but your ribs are likely bruised. Caelan, take Devan up to his room if you don't mind. The both of you need some rest. I'll bring up food and water if you need anything." "We'll be fine mom. We're big boys." Devan retorted sarcastically as he carefully slid off the edge of the kitchen table, though the moment he tried to stand up straight he had to catch himself on the edge of the table itself. Perhaps..a little help wouldn't kill him. Devan glanced to Caelan and waited for him to walk around to help him, but didn't dare to ask or else sound completely pathetic. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan stopped talking, he was just settled on the chair ignoring everything around him. His arms wrapped around his knees. He had been stupid, and he just didn't have anything to say anymore. Giving a small nod he moved from his spot to help Devan upstairs after she was done with him. He might as well do something good while he was here. For as long as he might actually be here. Though he almost wanted to leave in the morning, disappear before anyone woke up. That was all pretty much. He refused to rest but Caelan didn't say that either. He'd bring unwanted attention to him if he did that. So he would just move to help Devan up the stairs. His eyes still focused on the ground as he made sure they didn't fall. Mumbling a good night to Devan's parents he walked into the room, then helped Devan onto the bed. He wouldn't sleep in the bed with him either. Caelan just took his spot in a chair, resting his head on his knees. Caelan looked out the window.
"Devan...you should get some sleep." He was mumbling again, hiding his exhaustion and everything else under the wraps he had made. His walls were building again. Caelan figured this was for the best, if his walls went up he wouldn't be hurt by the things outside of them or contained within them either right. He just kept looking out the window, the darkness was still there. And he didn't want to remember that. Caelan was a hunter, a murderer and that was all he'd ever be. The blood on his hands might be tainted but it was from still killing people regardless. He had agreed to go to that school, why would he? It just confused him but maybe this was for Devan, maybe this was just to keep him happy.
Caelan had nothing to say he just wanted to be left alone. The guilt was still eating at his insides. And he wasn't sure how to handle it. Just trying to keep from laughing he buried his face into his knees. The emotions were fading fast, and it made him feel better. Now if he could just get Devan to go to bed. That was all he wanted right now. He thought of opening the window but he'd do it after Devan went to bed. For now he'd just stay here and try to pretend he was resting.
Anything to keep Devan from questioning him. |

He appreciated Caelan's help but he felt bad that he even needed it. It was their job to put their lives at risk. They were born into this life style, though regardless Devan couldn't picture either of them living normally like other kids their age. They had both seen too much death, too much chaos to be normal teenagers. He had thought that Caelan knew this, and yet he still looked so upset. Devan wondered if maybe he'd said something to bother him. Maybe asking Caelan to go to that school in front of his parents was a bad thing. It had probably put him on the spot and Devan was only realizing that mistake now. He held onto Caelan loosely, not wanting to put too much strain on him either. They were both going to be damn sore tomorrow, but really he just wanted this day to end. After Caelan helped him into bed he curled under the sheets and sighed in relief. This was definitely more comfortable than the kitchen table. Carefully slipping his jacket off, he tossed it onto the floor and tried to get his pants off as well until he realized that Caelan was being quiet as ever. He understood that he needed some sleep, but so did Caelan. Was he pissed off at him for the mistake he'd made? Devan had already apologized, so what was wrong now? "Caelan, what's wrong? I know I screwed up, it was all my fault. If you want to be mad at me fine, but I am really sorry." He was a bit defensive, but this was only due to the fact that Devan felt like such a failure already. Seeing Caelan react this way just made him feel worse. He propped himself up on his elbows so he'd be able to looked at him a bit better, regardless of how uncomfortable it was. "..Are you okay?"@ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need He just wanted Devan to get better, that was all. He did not really have much else going through his head. Why would he? As a hunter this had become his life, and he was trying to get used to it. But seeing Devan get hurt. It really really bothered him, yet keeping silent was all he knew how to do right now. If he brought it up just what might happen to the both of them. That noble was still out there somewhere after all. The idea of him coming back really worried Caelan and made it even harder to sleep for the night. He couldn't sleep. No he'd have to watch over Devan, make sure nothing happened to him and no one got into the house. Caelan felt guilty for his ...what was Devan to him now? He just chewed his bottom lip. Devan wasn't acting like he used to and it stung.
A lot at that. "Devan...? What? I'm fine just thinking about stuff. You need to go to sleep. You won't heal if you don't get any rest." He was not trying to shove him entirely, but at the same time. Maybe just a little he was. Caelan wanted to cuddle up to Devan, maybe when he slept. Then he wouldn't have to deal with Devan going stiff on him like he had on the table. This was what made him put the pieces together. Devan had forgotten things, that dick of a vampire had made him forget. Why though? What reason did any of that even have, and it was seriously not something he wanted to deal with. Not even in the form of thinking about it either.
"I-I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at him, but it doesn't matter. I'm going to be fine and soon you will be too." He smiled as he spoke though it faded away quickly. Caelan couldn't hold this up for long. He just got up to take his jacket off, and remove the torn shirt as well. He'd borrow one of the clothes he left here at Devan's house. "where'd you put my shirt I left here?" He didn't think about the dark bruises coating his back, or the cuts. None of it mattered to him. Caelan barely felt them anymore, it was almost like his nerves had been numbed, or he was just so out of it that they didn't bug him now.
"I don't know...if I'm okay or not. You just get some sleep." He admitted it but just wouldn't look directly at Devan, he tried to get comfortable in his seat after getting his shirt. He didn't care much for this, bad ideas were bad ideas in general by this point. |

Caelan was acting strange, being distant, and Devan didn't like it. He still felt as if he'd done something wrong to make Caelan so upset, but he figured that getting hurt as he had didn't entirely help either. Tonight was just one big mess that he wanted to leave behind them. Though he didn't say anything more until Caelan stood up and began taking his clothes off. It wasn't the disrobing that bothered him, but the marks on his back as he turned that did. Devan's eyes grew wide as he realized the extent that Caelan had been injured, making his heart sink and twist in weird ways that he couldn't explain. He pushed himself up further, stifling the pain in his stomach as he held onto his midsection and groaned. He brushed it off though and glanced over at Caelan once more. "What shirt? You can borrow one of mine, but why didn't you tell my mom you were hurt too?"Whatever else he'd been talking about before didn't seem to matter. Devan wanted to be able to help Caelan too, no matter how badly it hurt him. Devan looked at the shirt that Caelan had found, that was his obviously, but it confused him. How did Caelan's shirt get here? It left Devan momentarily speechless as he tried to connect the dots but he could only make assumptions. He must have left it when he'd spent the night one of the many times he'd been over. That made sense. He shook his head and ran a hand through his hair, feeling exasperated and at a loss. "Don't go anywhere tonight. Stay here, I mean it." Devan worried that Caelan would try to sneak out, and it bothered him to even think about but Cael was so rebellious at times. They needed to stay together, and at least here they were in a house full of hunters. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan didn't know what else to do, all he could feel was the depression. That darkness trying to suffocate him. Why did Devan have to forget? Why did it bother him so much that Devan seemed to not remember him. With a small sigh he just tugged the shirt back on. Ignoring the pain that was caused by the fabric rubbing against his back. It would get better soon enough so he did have very little to worry about. At least for right now anyway. "I probably dropped a shirt here somewhere, and she was busy with you. You are her son, I'm just the friend." That was all he said as he moved to take a blanket and pillow down onto the floor. Settling there on his side rather then his back. His back was not able to handle the pressure of this after all. How could it? He might not be in the right area for this sort of thing. Devan would probably question him, but he just wanted to ignore that. If only he could.
Why did Devan have to push him so hard what good did it do him? Really. What good would it do? They were different people now. Caelan knew things Devan didn't, and he might never remember them. Go figure right, Devan would be the one who forgot these things. Caelan just waved his hand from where he was on the floor. He had no plans on leaving, Devan could at least trust him. Though sleeping was also out of the question right now, he didn't feel up to sleeping. And this floor was not comfortable to sleep on either. He only had the blanket and the pillow. It never made the floor any better for a guy to sleep on. But he wasn't about to complain, Devan needed all the room on his bed, and it was best for Caelan to stay away.
"Yea yea got it Dad, I'm not leaving. Just go to bed." He wouldn't leave unless it was to get a drink or something along those lines. Devan would know he was just teasing right? After all he didn't mean a thing he said right now, he was just trying to lighten to mood and not dwell on his issues either. Those issues were bad, and would only get him into more trouble then it was worth by now. He didn't think it was safe here either at least not for him. But he'd let it go for now. He told Devan he'd stay already. And Caelan wasn't one to go back on his words, not even if he needed to.
He wanted to ask to sleep next to Devan but instead he just tossed and turned a bit trying to get comfortable. |

Devan smirked at Caelan's response, amused by his sarcasm despite how it probably should have bothered him instead. Devan simply couldn't get mad at the person that had saved his life, and in truth it was only just then that he officially realized that this guy did save his life tonight. He felt grateful. Devan knew that he owed Caelan big time after what he had done, therefore as he watched his friend gather some spare blankets and curl up on the floor he had to say something about it. "You should sleep up here Caelan. You got hurt too, and you deserve it after what you did for me." He sounded like he was giving Caelan a suggestion, but really he wouldn't take no for an answer even if his friend declined. Devan could be just as persistent and forceful, if not more so than Caelan could be rebellious. He didn't want to see Cae in pain, and since he didn't have the ability to fully pay back for the good that he'd done today sacrificing a portion of his bed wouldn't hurt. Devan would scoot closer to the edge so Caelan could crawl over him and sleep between him and the wall. If anyone was going to fall off he would rather it be himself regardless of his injuries. "So..about that school. Do you think you'll really go?" It was still stuck in his mind and he couldn't stop thinking about it. He wanted Caelan to go with him now more than ever because of how hurt he'd gotten. Clearly he was useless without his friend, and "Who knows, I might need your help keepin an eye on the vampys." Devan scoffed, "They have opportunities to keep up on our training there, with this position called 'prefect'. It's not as dorky as it sounds..or maybe it is, but I think if you tell your parents that you can use your training there it might sway them too." Anything to get Caelan on board. Devan was going full on advertisement. @ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan barely knew what he was saying at this point, he had a feeling it wasn't good. But it wasn't bad either. For now he was just a tad bit uncertain. Those things that had happened were complicated enough. With a small groan he sat up and tried to stretch. His body was sore, and it hurt a lot. Thanks to this whole thing his body wasn't in the right state to do anything. It'd take him at least a week to properly heal. "Fine." He wasn't in the mood to fight. He'd just keep as far away from Devan as he could. This wasn't anything important, it didn't mean anything. Guys could share a bed and nothing would come from it. Caelan would keep his thoughts to himself as he just moved to settle down on the bed.
Keeping his back to the wall so Devan didn't accidentally hit it in his sleep. He'd rather not get more bruises because of something like that anyway. "I didn't do anything big though. You'd do the same." Maybe he was just keeping to his ways of not caring. Or acting as if he didn't do anything good. Caelan had always been that way even when he was a child. While he liked the praise his parents gave him. Well he always found a way to say he didn't do anything good. They wanted to break him of that, but it didn't happen that often. So what if he was good at anything, Devan still got hurt. He'd rather just shrug this off now, then go back to sleep.
Or well attempt to sleep. Caelan couldn't sleep very well when he was in pain. But he wasn't about to ask Devan anything. That was all. Why did any of this matter? Devan got out of it alright, that had to be good enough. At least in his mind it was a little. But Caelan just kept having one of his majorly negative days. Probably not his best idea now that he was thinking about all of this. "Yea...it's not that bad I guess." This was different to his opinion before so maybe he was lying. Just a little bit.
"Prefect huh...sounds like some really stiff position, but maybe. Probably, let's just tell them later then for now you go to bed. I'm tired too." He was so tired, but Caelan knew he might not end up sleeping. It couldn't be that surprising after what happened. He didn't need images like that in his head but the ones of Devan hurt were just still there. |

Didn't do anything big? Sometimes he hated it when Caelan was so humble like this. It made him feel like an arrogant jerk. Of course he would have done the same for Cael if their roles had been switched, but that didn't make what he did any less bold. Not all hunters would actually take a 'bullet' for one another, and to have someone who he now knew truly would, it both made him feel happy and immensely worried. What if Caelan had gotten hurt far worse tonight because of him? Devan decided that from now on he would try to play it safe -as safe as he could possibly pull off while in this line of work. For the time being he'd let Caelan be modest. Devan didn't want to bicker, nor embarrass Caelan to the extent that he'd actually get upset with him. "Of course I would, but I'm still grateful. I'm now forever in your debt~." Devan chimed teasingly, playing up the damsel role that he'd apparently pulled off well tonight. Resting back against his pillows, Devan turned his cheek to look at Caelan as he spoke and accepted Devan's offer to sleep in his bed with him. Still very interested in what he'd say about his proposal about the school he didn't say anything more until his friend gave him his real opinion about it. Though the moment he stated 'not that bad' Devan immediately began to beam. He could tell that Caelan was giving in even with that remark and it made him happy. "You say that now but I'm sure you'll like it. Plus we get to stay up later as a perk." Devan had no doubt in his mind that he was going to get Cae to go to that school with him now. They were going to be living in a dorm together, and that in itself seemed perfection. They'd been friends since birth practically. What better way to spend time with one another than to live in closer proximity? Devan was trying to remain positive as best he possibly could given their situation, and current condition. However, he could tell just in the way that Cael spoke that he wasn't being very optimistic himself. His wide smile faded to a small grin. He sighed contently, pulling the blankets up and over Caelan's shoulder, as well as up closer to his chin. They'd just had a near death experience, though it spoke about what sort of personality Devan had to be able to smile right now. He didn't want to worry Caelan so much, but clearly it wasn't working, regardless of what he said. "I won't do anything risky like that again." He said sincerely, hoping to try and sooth his friend once more. "...Were you scared?"@ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need This was just his way, he didn't like the idea of apparently helping people. He had gotten Devan hurt, or at least that was how he saw this. With a small sigh he just tried to relax. Perhaps this wasn't going to be so bad, or maybe it was. Who knew. He had a feeling this didn't even matter now though. It was just one of those things he'd rather not deal with. Caelan shrugged a bit then tried to get comfortable on the bed. His back hurt really bad, but once he fell asleep he'd be free from dealing with it for a little while. "Are you going to put on a dress, like in those fairy tales." He was only teasing, well mostly. He didn't know what to do about this, or how to go with it either. It already seemed to be really awkward and perhaps stressful for him.
Caelan had memories Devan didn't which made this moment bittersweet. He just wanted to forget everything happened. The boy was bruised, Devan was hurt. Both of them needed to sleep. Since he was so into going to that school they had a lot of things to get in order first it seemed. As much as he'd rather not deal with those sort of things right now. Biting his lip he just tried to relax. His body was feeling a little less sore. For the moment. Probably because he was so close to passing out at this point. "Stay up later? I guess if that's a perk." He slept through the day because he was always up at night. So this was already weird. But let Devan do or say what he wanted to really, that's all there was to it by this point.
He would not refuse, he didn't want to leave Devan alone. Even if Devan didn't remember what they shared. But still those details were complicated enough to even think about. "Let's just get some sleep. You have things to work out, and what not." He'd have to explain this to his parents, and explain why he was going. But they couldn't deny him that privilege right. At least. "You better not...and I don't know. It all just happened so freaking fast, I wasn't thinking. But I guess I was." He didn't know, Caelan spoke the truth on that one. He wasn't going to know any of that stuff by this point. Not at all.
Caelan just yawned and closed his eyes. He was too tired to deal, and he was starting to drift off anyway. No matter how much he tried to keep his body awake. |

He couldn't resist, despite how it hurt, Devan had to laugh at what Caelan had said. "Hell no I'm not putting on a dress. I'm the manliest princess you'll ever meet dammit." He smirked, finding the now lightheartedness of the conversation comforting in a sense -even more so now that Caelan was going along with him rather than keeping to himself in his confined little bubble. Devan slipped his hand back under the covers and laced his fingers together to rest them over his stomach carefully. It was warm under the blanket and he could practically feel Caelan's body heat under the sheets. It felt nice in comparison to the cold outdoors they'd just come from. His grin fell just slightly while Caelan confided in him, actually expressing how he'd felt during the ordeal in the woods, making Devan feel special that he was even hearing such words. Though he could tell right away that Caelan was tired. The way he formed that sentence didn't sound right and it almost made him seem like he was drunk or on something for a split second. Just thinking this brought Devan's smile back, if only for a moment. "You did good Cael. Let's get some sleep now. You almost sound drunk already." Devan teased, before adjusting himself in his position on the bed and closing his eyes. He caught Caelan's yawn, and did the same a moment later. "Goodnight Mr. Drunk Person."@ caelan || im sexy and i kno it

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need "Sure you are a manly princess." That was almost a weird image to think of, after all manly princess meant hairy and disturbing. In the fairy tales at least, he'd never bring that idea up to anyone. It'd be awkward enough to explain by this point. He already knew that much, yet he'd rather not talk about it. With a laugh he just moved back from Devan a little bit and tried to sleep. His body needed a lot of rest. As did Devan. So he would only hope the boy would rest. Even if Caelan was wrestling with his inner thoughts on his feelings for Devan. Getting a kiss, or getting a hug. None of that would happen the way it used to now. And he couldn't help it. Caelan was stubborn as heck earlier, before this happened. but now he was uncertain. He missed it perhaps? Who knew. He just yawned, then curled up in a smaller ball.
He wanted to get some rest, and just sleep without the memories bugging him. If that'd even work. So far he had a feeling it probably wasn't going to though. "Good night Devan." He mumbled as he passed out in the bed. Curling up in his spot, and not moving from it. Why would he even bother? That'd only create more issues for him. More that he didn't need to know about, or even get involved in. Caelan and Devan would probably sleep in till god knows when because of the night's events. Or at least it was a thought. Caelan had moved over towards Devan in the middle of the night, just clinging to him almost, but without touching his ribs. Or anything that was hurt. Caelan wouldn't want to make him worse.
Caelan still felt guilty. He still felt like that was his fault, if he'd been careful none of that would have happened. Basically. Though he'd rather leave this alone right now. Probably for the best. Caelan didn't even think about anything now, he was just cuddled up against Devan. Enjoying the warmth he felt, it was all so calming and peaceful. Nothing outside of this could or even would bother him. Simple as that really. Caelan's body shook a little bit though as if he was fighting his way through a nightmare, or just not very comfortable on the bed right now at least. |
