Caelan's response was amusing regardless of his halfhearted threat. Devan didn't take it seriously, and instead of worrying about it laughed it off. He lifted his right hand to Caelan's head, opening his eyes once more so he could watch his fingers ruffle into the boy's smooth, straight locks. "Aww aren't you cute." Devan lulled, mockingly, before retracting his hand and pulling the blankets up over his arm once more. Once he subsided though, his inner thoughts came back, negative things that he didn't enjoy thinking about. Devan had never had doubts about what he was going to do in the future, but he was starting to think -at least recently- that maybe living like this wasn't such a good idea. Would he be happy being a hunter all his life? Would Caelan? He couldn't imagine being without his friend, or even he himself possibly dying among the many that risked their lives daily. Their roles in this human society may be noble and heroic, but the things Devan felt were definitely not joyous or happy. His smile slowly faded, eyes reverting to Caelan's chest before he shut them once again. "Do you think we'll still be doing this in the future?" He said, fearful that if he sounded too doubtful that Caelan would see him as weak. Though they were friends, and he had faith that Cael had perhaps thought about this too. "Hunting I mean. Do you think it's really right for us?"@ caelan || devan thinks a lawt

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan felt irritated, Devan teasing him was so annoying and he wanted all of it to go away. So what was he supposed to do? Right now it might not even matter, but still. Caelan knew what he wanted to do. And that was get Devan to sleep. He needed to rest, and Caelan would make sure of it. At least for now, unless he passed out first. He let this go for now because he wanted to help Devan. He had nothing else to think about right now. Not at all. For now he felt that he might not be in a good area. He was starting to zone in and out of his sleep state. Starting to pass out which wasn't so surprising to him either. At least not right now. "Tch as if, I'm not cute. " He glared at him, trying not to punch him or kick Devan. Devan had enough today, his nightmares. And whatever else. After all he was already hurt before, and Caelan didn't wish to make it any worse. He'd allow him to do what he wanted for now. His eyes closed as he settled down on the bed. He was trying to be relaxed now. And stay that way.
All for Devan's sake. He valued that boy so much even if he couldn't admit it. Which right now he really couldn't he did not know how to at that. Basically. More or less this was just how it went. Life was not easy, Life was not handed to them without any fights, or any problems. Caelan knew that. The past experiences had spoken of that. They both almost died hunting. And he didn't want to do that again, or let it happen again. Basically. That was all, so he'd have to figure this out. For a moment he'd just learn to deal with it. Laughing a bit he was finally feeling better. Devan had made him feel so much better, even if he had been sad before. But he wouldn't say he had been sad either, that was better off hidden again.
"I don't think you will...I see you going to college, settling down with a nice girl, and having kids. Momma would like that, don't ya think?" Caelan clearly had gone out of his way to leave himself out of that conversation. Since it wasn't going to help him. Hunting was all Caelan knew, unlike Devan he might not be able to settle down. But he didn't say that. He would just play this off as he wasn't sure what to do because. Really he wasn't sure what to do or where to go with this. If he wasn't careful it'd only end up messing him up once again. And he already knew that. Caelan had just tried to improve his mood he'd rather not destroy it all over again. That sounded horrible on it's own.
"I dunno, It's not fun or anything. Maybe we could just leave, or at least one of us could..." He said, Caelan knew his parents wouldn't be happy if he stopped being a hunter. Devan's might be more understanding. But at the same time he could be wrong. Who knew what either parent might say. |

The mention of him going to college, and living his life separate from the hunter world, that had been a response he hadn't necessarily expected from Caelan. Even lifted his lids, though he didn't look at his friend and simply listened. A frown was already morphing his features, his expression fairly confused as well. Kids? A wife? It all sounded too white picket fence suburbia to Devan. Boring. "I dunno about that." He said, both in response to the whole idea, and the thought that his mother would want such a thing for him. All his parents ever talked about was his hunter training. They never mentioned it in front of Caelan, or pestered him when his friend was around for fear of embarrassing him or causing a strain between their friendship. They were respectful towards Devan in that way, but it didn't mean that he didn't hear their lectures on a daily basis. He had to listen, obey, stay aware and educated to all the news in their society. Caelan may have had it worse off with his parents being more strict, but Devan wasn't let off so easy either. Maybe living a suburban type lifestyle wouldn't be so bad. He was uncertain in his ability to be a decent father, or even finding someone that he would love unconditionally in that way, but the idea in itself didn't seem so horrible when compared to the potential non-life that being a hunter might cause. "What do you mean run away?" Devan scoffed, rolling his eyes a moment later, quickly dismissing it. "Yea right." There was no way they could do such a thing. Where would they even go? "Besides, you say that like I'd leave you behind or something. You're my best friend...I don't think I can do anything without having you around." Devan said, the entirety of his dialogue his eyes remained down and reverted from Caelan's. Only until he felt a heavy sincerity in his heart did he look up. "Let's promise, to not ever lose touch from one another. No matter what."Devan raised his right hand from the blanket, showing his pinky extended as he waited for Caelan to loop his around it. They were making a pact and even though they couldn't do so with blood this seemed to be the next best thing. "Friends. Always."@ caelan || devan thinks a lawt

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan only had his life of being a hunter, he had nothing else. Not anymore. But he didn't show it. He made sure he wouldn't show it. That'd be really annoying, but of course he'd have to deal with this. For now. Devan wanted him to know that, or seemed to have his own life set into things. Who knew. He'd rather not dig into that, this was already awkward enough. It made him feel a bit stressed out though his face was blank on that one. At least for now. "Haha sure you don't, that sounds like you, something you'd like right? You don't want a family? Or do you just want to be attached to my hip forever." He felt the words catch in his throat before he forced them out the rest of the way. Caelan was emotional today, or he had been for the past week. And he hated it. Why did he have to feel anything? Couldn't he just stop feeling. Stop being human? It sounded good for him by this point.
He wanted to just stay with his friend but not feel anything. Pain was horrible, it made him sick. And Caelan wanted to make it go away. Though he'd rather not think about it. Since it'd probably just end up making things really awkward for him. Mostly. Perhaps he needed to learn to do this in a different way entirely. That might sound like a very good plan for him at least. But he kept it to himself. Caelan didn't open his eyes, he was really tired and he wanted to sleep. He'd sleep, it'd be okay. He'd get Devan to rest, they'd be able to be fine. At least that was what he thought. Devan had to be a jerk, he had to tease someone didn't he? That was always Devan's style it seemed and he hated it.
"You can't huh? Am I that important to you? cutie that you are. Devan really, what happens will happen. I don't entirely want to leave you either. I want to stay with you for as long as I can." Caelan wanted to shut up, he wanted to cut those words short. Before he said anything he'd regret. Though it probably wasn't going to end up working anyway. Basically. This was just a tad bit confusing to him. His feelings were hard to understand and figure out at the same time. Just what could he end up doing? If he wasn't careful he might end up stepping over his boundaries and completely mess things up by this point. Devan was finally calmed down and he didn't want to make it worse, or make him all jumpy.
He tilted his head, this made him feel like a child again. Go figure right he had no luck here did he? This was just one of those things he'd rather not deal with. Much less get involved with. Life had become complicated enough lately with Devan losing his memory. Though he didn't say it. Caelan would never say it. If he spoke about it that meant he had to reveal a lot of things. Which he did not wish to do. "Fine, Promise." He just put his hand up and let his pinky fall to curl around Devan's slightly. Like they used to do when they promised as kids. Devan and Caelan hadn't done this for awhile. Probably because Caelan kept refusing.
But now they were, and he had to accept that. |

He didn't like the sound of Caelan's responses. They were negative, in Devan's eyes, and it made him feel as if Cael had already pictured either of them leaving each other. He didn't like it. So as he kept his hand up between them and his brow furrowed, he spoke in a firm tone urging his friend. "Promise." He said, repeating himself and wanting nothing more than to ignore all of what Cael had previously said. It didn't matter if he wanted a family or not. It didn't matter if he was born a hunter, and it didn't matter that they would grow up one day. Devan refused to let his friend distance himself from him. They were supposed to stick together. That was how it had always been, even when they were little. Whether it was the luck of their parents knowing each other before hand or not, Devan was grateful he had someone like Caelan in his life and he didn't want him to just disappear. Finally when his friend accepted his gestures, and sealed their promise, Devan's expression softened and his frown disappeared. He was happy, content, and he felt far better than he had a few minutes ago after waking up from that nightmare. He even managed a smile, as he scooted closer to Caelan, letting go of his pinky and moving to bury his features into the boy's chest. His arms wrapped around him as well, pulling him close and keeping him there. His own personal teddy bear, but better. Caelan was warm. "Don't ever call me cute by the way. That's not allowed." Devan grumbled against the fabric of Caelan's shirt stubbornly. He had to get in that after thought as he remembered it in the moment among other things. @ caelan ||

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need He should have stopped, being negative was never his thing, it was something he needed to stop doing. More or less. By this point Caelan felt as if he was just not going to help or make things any better either. Who knew. He felt strange. His chest was stinging a little bit as if his thoughts were getting the better of him again. Which he needed to stop. At least with Devan around, if he let Devan realize how worried he might be it'd get him trouble and nothing else. That was already more then known by this point anyway. Caelan could only open his eyes now and glance at Devan. He felt bad, this whole situation. Devan not having his memories and what not. It was his fault. If only he'd been careful. And watched him. But that was past. That was done, so he smiled and shook it off. Devan got a kick out of teasing him so he'd let the other male tease him a bit longer. Without fighting back too much, if he completely stopped it'd be too obvious. And give too many things away.
"Yes I promise Devan...please just listen to me." He sighed a bit, this was way too frustrating. Actually no wait it wasn't. He just didn't entirely know what to do about this either. He felt so tired, Caelan wanted to go to bed. his body was starting to faint, and slowly at that. So at least he'd be able to keep Devan close. Let Devan do as he wanted, the male was not going to fight. Right now he almost didn't want to. Go figure the logic in this one, it probably wasn't going to matter either. Mostly. He put his pinky back down next to his side, and glanced at his ex. This was alright. They were okay, everything would be okay. That's all he said. What was he going to say? Would it even be any help to any of them. Perhaps not. He didn't know what to do, or how to handle this. For the moment he felt that he was not in the right state of mind. Lack of sleep was starting to get to him.
"You are cute though, but whatever. Just go to sleep Devan. you can do that now can't you?" He asked as he just waited, he had to wonder if he'd actually be able to sleep. Probably not. But who knew. He had a feeling that Devan would wake up again. So maybe he'd watch him for awhile to make sure he actually slept. Since Caelan didn't want to keep him awake for much longer right now. He needed rest, and Caelan was starting to pass out at the same time as well right now. He only rubbed Devan's back and tried not to yawn. He'd rather not expose just how tired he felt right now. |

He smirked at Caelan's retort, but didn't say anything even as he asked him if he'd be able to fall asleep again. His eyes were already closed, and while being so close to Caelan like this the heat from his body was like snuggling up to a blanket just taken out of the dryer. He was content, and comfortable, and unlike earlier it was very likely that he would actually be able to fall asleep like this. Under record time, within a minute or less, his breathing became heavy and his hold on Caelan loosened just slightly. He had slipped into another one of his deep slumbers. He had feared more nightmares before, but with Caelan here it had been farther from his mind. It allowed him to doze off quicker knowing that he had someone around. It was why Cael was so important to him. He needed him, no matter how confident he could be at times. Devan was still the boy Caelan knew when they were kids. He still, and would always, need a friend. @ caelan || sleeping devan is so cute //draws on his face

Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need Caelan only wanted Devan to go back to sleep, he'd be able to relax a little more then. Having Devan stare at him was just not good. While he had feelings for the other male, he didn't enjoy how sometimes they got in the way. What was he going to do? If he wasn't careful he might have gotten into a lot of trouble at that. Which he'd rather avoid. For now anyway. Perhaps he needed to figure this out some other way. All he could do right now. That was basically it more or less. He'd rather not dig into that since it probably wasn't going to be very good. For him or for anyone at that. For now at the very least. Caelan only smiled a little as he started to fall asleep. Devan did need rest no matter how stubborn he wanted to be about that.
"Good night Devan." He was not sure what to say, his boyfriend didn't remember. And he felt worried so he just decided to rest for now. He would close his eyes and fall asleep too. It was probably for the best right now. If he stayed awake he'd get nothing done. More or less by this point. Really he'd rather not comment on it, since it wasn't about to do him any good. Caelan was out like a light after that, and that was just how he'd stay for a little while. Hoping Devan would be able to sleep through the night right now. So what was he supposed to do, how was he supposed to figure this out anyway.
He would fall asleep shortly after, and just leave Devan to his own devices. He wasn't going to pull away from Devan, he felt comfy here. |
