VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Alastor had done a bad thing by sneaking away like this. He knew the moment he went back home he'd get in real trouble, but at the presently it was of little concern to him. He was simply tired of being told to study and what to do. Without being given very many breaks, and the lack of opportunity to play with kids his own age, he sought to fulfill his curiosities about the human world. So, while his parents were asleep he snuck out early in the morning. They couldn't catch him as quickly if he left during this time, and took advantage of the sun -despite how much he'd avoided stepping out directly into it while he walked about the city.
Among his travels about the city, he found a park with many kids his own age playing and running around, carefree and unhindered. It brought great curiosity, but most of it was entirely cast in sunlight, causing him to be apprehensive to run to it at first -but with little else to do he made his way to it quickly after mentally giving himself a small nudge. One would think that he would have great confidence after arriving, enough to try and play with some of the children present, but as soon as he made it he quickly found a shaded place to hide.
Alastor scurried under the shaded cover beneath a slide. Kneeling there he held onto his knees close to his chest and simply watched the children dart back and forth, laugh and play. Occasionally he thought about slipping out and talking to one of them, but he feared they wouldn't even like him to begin with. However, he had caught the attention of a small group of three who had been tossing a football back and forth.
Alastor didn't look at them until he realized they were actually gracing him with their presence and attention. He looked up slowly, his raven locks slightly in his eyes.
"What are you doing under there?"
He thought it to be a good idea to answer, but he honestly felt embarrassed as to 'why' he was actually hiding under the slide. Admittedly, he felt a bit intimidated by this kids even. They looked around the same age as him, so he shouldn't have been worried, but from where he was they looked a lot bigger than they most likely were. When he didn't answer, the kid that had initially asked him the question frowned. "Hey, can you talk?" He said, nudging Alastor with his shoe, casuing the boy to flinch despite himself.

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be This was a usual thing for him, going out to play with the other kids. Atti's parents were all about him making friends, being social. And so on. They'd never take this away from. And he was more than aware of that by now. Probably in a way he shouldn't have been. But did that even matter? Perhaps not. The ginger haired boy walked onto the field, and glanced around at the kids. He would pick the kids with skateboards, and start riding around in the parking lot for awhile instead. He didn't entirely enjoy sports. What good would they even do him anyway? Right. It wasn't like he had any use to people, or ever would be useful towards people. Apparently. The boy just rolled his eyes and jumped off of the skateboard. Laughing as he bounced over to the playground with his supposed friends instead. At least here he'd have fun.
Better than he did at home. "Hey guys let's play tag. Go round up some of the other guys!" He said as he just glanced around, he noticed the dude under the slide. And that idiot bugging him? Some people were just weird, and Attikus was more than aware of that. Even when he didn't want to be anyway. Atti kicked the boy down and growled. "Hey don't push him like that. You go play with the other guys before I bury you in the sand." Atti huffed, then peeked under the slide. "Hey come on, he's just a butt head, you wanna come play with us. They don't bite or anything. They are just...weird around new people." With a small laugh he just smiled at the boy, and held his hand our to him. Atti wasn't even bothered by this, why would he be? There was not much of a reason for it really. Why would there be anyway right? Apparently he had a feeling he might be in some awkward place that he did not wish to be in.
Atti thought of dragging him out but he could hear his mom's voice in his head. Lecturing him, something about not pushing people into things. She could be such a worry wart when she wanted to be. To him it was just way too strange, and he had no idea how to handle people like that. How could he ? Or even would he for that matter. Perhaps this was not the best thing he'd done. Maybe. With a small sigh he tried to relax. Or well not get annoyed by how loud some of the other kids were. He just settled down next to the slide, and looked at the kid again. Would he even talk? So far Atti hadn't heard him talk at all.
For now he'd probably just have to wait. Even if he didn't want to. Atti wasn't entirely patient but he was trying his best here right now. Wanting to help him after all. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Alastor shut his eyes tightly, suddenly hearing the sound of a persons voice, much louder than the others. He heard a thud and the shifting of gravel, and slowly lifted his lids to see that kid that had been talking to him a moment ago trying to get up from the ground. Alastor's violet hues grew wide for a moment, scared that he'd been the one to hurt him on accident, though as he looked up and saw a new kid in front of them he understood what had happened -but couldn't figure out why the red haired boy was even stepping in. He hadn't been hurt by that human kid, and he knew that it would take a lot more than a little nudge to do any damage, but it was the bravery and guts that the ginger haired boy showed that he looked up to and secretly admired. He'd looked cool, scaring those other boy's away, but Alastor kept these thoughts to himself rather than blurting them out randomly.
When the boy that had 'saved' him peeked under the slide to look at him, he felt suddenly put on the spot again and it made him nervous. This boy had just kicked down another kid. Would he try and kick him down too if he didn't answer him? Alastor tried pushing these thoughts from his mind so he could listen to the stranger in front of him, and as he spoke his words did soon quickly catch his full attention.
Bite?
Did human's bite each other? Was that normal? The red haired boy was laughing, so that must mean he thought it was funny in some form. Alastor had learned a bit about human history, including his own, but he didn't understand regular human customs at all. This was a crash course in human interaction and he was so paranoid that he was going to fail. Alastor stared down at the hand extended towards him, wondering if he was supposed to shake it. That was what the adults did, aside from all the bowing. He'd never seen another kid shake hands with anyone though...so he kept his hands to himself unsure of what to do about this.
When the stranger settled down in front of him, he continued to stair curiously, intrigued by this boy far more than he should have been. "My name's Alastor.." He said, quietly at first but finding his confidence in the midst of his name. "..Thanks for saving me...What's your name?"

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be Little kids could be so annoying, they did not understand boundaries. Though of course this kid was no different, Attikus never bothered with boundaries if it was someone he knew. At the very least. Though some people didn't entirely understand him either. He wasn't exactly the same, some people he'd hurt. Some people he'd cling to and tease. Other people he'd just pet, like they were kids, or a little brother. Something like that. However he was just glancing over at Al right now. Why wouldn't he move? This was weird, but he'd just let it go. Why bother pushing him anyway right. Looking at him he just tilted his head. What was he going to do. Not like he could force this kid to come out, it wasn't like he had the strength to do that. Well okay maybe he could. A little fear went a long way, but he wasn't that rude.
His name had come into the picture. And Al sounded better than the long name he was given. So of course Atti wasn't going to call him by his first name ever. That was all. "I like Al better, it's shorter. And less to remember. But U-um my name is Attikus, you call me Atti though." He was not one to let people call him Attikus, unless it was his mother or family member. And even then he still pouted over it. Being that whole stubborn as a butt thing, pretty much. He won't change things. Atti just looked at him from where he sat. What was he going to do? Right now it might not end up mattering either. So perhaps he needed to think about this in a different light. "Hey Al, why are you under the slide anyway?" He had to ask, after all his friends had bugged him. So Atti might as well ask Al something about that.
The boy did not care about anything really. He just wanted to play with his friend. Or take care of him, they could have fun tonight. Or so he thought anyway. With a small relaxed sigh he just leaned against the slide. His high from playing was starting to fade away a bit. But he wasn't going to worry, why stress over something like that, it'd probably be a bit confusing, but he could ignore it for the moment anyway. At least for right now. His other friends had gone off to play so he'd spend his time here with Al instead.
So far this guy didn't seem to talk much, so what would they do? |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Al? The sound of that name was odd to the pureblood boy, but he couldn't find it in himself to correct him. Who knew, this kid might actually not be able to remember his name for very long, and Alastor didn't want to intentionally be an inconvenience to the person that had just helped him. He'd let this boy call him whatever he wanted for now, so long as it wasn't something mean, and even though Al did sound funny to his ears it wasn't anywhere near an insult. He perked up when the human said his name, causing him to mentally repeat it to himself. 'Attikus' Both of their names started with an A. In his mind Alastor preferred the boy's full name too, but it seemed that the human liked the shortened version of his name as well. He had no choice but to obey his wishes on this one.
Though on the subject as to why he was under this damn slide. Alastor felt put on the spot again. His eyes parted from Atti's for a brief moment as he considered telling him. He'd never spoke to a human that wasn't a hunter before. Even then they were all adults and only for a brief moment. This was intimidating, however, if he was going to be the head of his family one day he knew that he'd have to gain some courage from somewhere. This was like his official test, conversing with strangers.
"Well..the shade feels nice here." He wasn't lying, just telling a half truth. Alastor didn't think it would hurt. "I ran away for the day, but don't tell anyone. I don't want to get in trouble." He had no idea if Atti had parents nearby, but he could only assume that he did. "Can I still call you Attikus?..I like that name."

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be He only tilted his head and looked at him, this person was weird. Well weird enough to be hiding underneath a slide for whatever reason. It just truly did not make any sense. But like it as even supposed to at this point either. With a small shrug he just tried to laugh a bit. He was trying to relax, he wanted to enjoy time. Even with this person, who he barely knew. But did it even matter? They had just run into each other, or well something like that. He saved his butt from the idiot that didn't want to back off. Not like he was that against having friends who wanted to hide under slides or anything. That wasn't a bother to him. He just flopped back on the sand, and laughed a little bit. This wasn't so bad. He had a friend, and even if he needed a bath now when he got home. Atti just didn't care.
He only glanced over at his new friend, trying to get some sort of read on him. Yet there was nothing there. Or he just couldn't read it, apparently. Who knew. This had confused him a lot more than he wanted to admit. Atti didn't get people, and this person was even harder to get. So he just watched him, waited. Trying to listen into what he said. After all Al's words were important too. Pretty much to Atti they were. "I guess it feels nice, just I dunno, the slide is a little weird. All the bugs that like to get on the back of it sometimes. But if you like the shade." He wasn't going to judge him, he was just really scared of the bugs. Pretty much, Atti didn't mind some bugs but other ones he didn't like.
Mostly the ones that could hurt him. Or bite his fingers. "why would I tell anyone dude? I don't even know your parents, or anything! Plus that's being a tattler and that's stupid." He didn't like telling on people. So why would he? Right? This was already a tad bit awkward now that he was thinking about it once again. "E-eh? I guess so, but only you. If anyone else does I'll kick them where it hurts" He grumbled as he said that and just looked over at his friend again. Moving off of the sand to lean against Al's shoulder instead. This wasn't so bad, at least Atti wasn't annoyed to no end by this guy.
It was a start there. But he wondered where having this guy as a friend would go. It wasn't going to be bad after all, he was a person. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away The laughter of the boy before him confused Alastor. Had he said something funny? If so he had no idea what, but despite his ignorance he felt good for being able to make someone smile. This was much better than home already, where most everyone kept a straight face. Even if they did smile Al could tell that it was fake, but this boy..he was sincere. Alastor could just tell.
A small grin appeared in his features, before it diminished once more while Attikus spoke. Full attention was given to the boy once again, showing that he cared what the human boy had to say. When Atti mentioned bugs, Alastor glanced up at the underside of the slide for a brief moment to see if what he said was true, but even as he looked he didn't see anything but the plastic of the actual slide itself. Was Attikus really scared of bugs?
Admittedly he was a bit surprised when Attikus admitted next that he didn't even know his parents. He had always thought that everyone did, and suddenly the world seemed far bigger than he'd thought it to be. For people not to know who his parents were, it meant that Attikus didn't know who he was either. He didn't have undesired expectations and it was...relieving. Alastor coaxed a smile as Atti boldly proclaimed that he'd kick butts if someone said his name like he had, a small giggle even arising from him until Atti could move over and sit next to him.
He thought for sure he would have felt very uncomfortable while being so close to someone like Atti, but on the contrary, being shoulder to shoulder felt nice. He felt like they were connected and no longer strangers. It was only then that he actually noticed Attikus had had something in his possession that he'd never seen before. "Attikus, what's that thing?" He said, gesturing to the skateboard, not knowing what else to call it.

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be This was kinda strange, but it was okay. Atti had approached him, so the small boy could handle a conversation, at least for a little. Perhaps. Maybe he wasn't entirely in the right place, or perhaps he was. Either way things had happened, and Atti wanted to learn more about his friend. The kid hiding under the slide where bugs liked to hang out. The spiders and moths were the worst ones, but he didn't see them often. He really did hate those bugs, and he'd avoid them if he ever saw them. With a small sigh he just closed his eyes. He was just a tad bit worn out thanks to those things. Pretty much. Not like it'd end up changing anytime soon. Perhaps? Either way he wasn't entirely certain what he'd do. Al seemed to at least be having fun here. Right? Lucky for Al he never knew what fake smiles even were. He wouldn't smile for something fake, usually. At least not right now.
"Al? You don't know what the skateboard is? Jeez, do your parents keep you in a wooden box or something. Hey Al! Let me show you how to ride it okay. Let's go to the parking lot!" He wiggled a bit and looked at the skateboard, he wanted to just show off his skills. Even if it ended up with him falling over. He'd rather not worry about that, it'd probably be awkward if he didn't think about this the right way anyway. Apparently. With a small laugh, he wondered what he was doing. Why was he here? Oh right taking care of his new friend. Trying to show him a few things at the very least. He just grabbed onto Al's arm and tried to get him to move out from under the slide. It couldn't be so bad, they could go play. Right? The other children were off somewhere else, so of course he wanted to know if they could play. Maybe Al wouldn't mind him so much.
Well so far it didn't seem like he was anyway. So he waited to see if Al would agree, or let him drag the boy along. Though he didn't like taking a no for an answer. Really. Attikus liked to have fun not hear people complain. So he would probably have to find some way to shut Al up if he started to complain. At least so far he wasn't doing that though it was good enough pretty much. "Come on! I'll show you, and you can ride it too?" He asked with that cute tilt of his head. He really wanted to get Al to come out and play with him. For at least a little bit. The other kids were busy so he had nothing to do now. And he was curious about Al. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Was it a bad thing that he didn't know what that board looking think was? He'd never seen one before, though there were a lot of things he hadn't experienced that would seem odd to most kids his age. He didn't have a tv, or very much time to play at all on a usual day. Alastor didn't have any siblings to pester either, and often spent most of his time studying or reading books. Though learning something new did seem fun, and he was beginning to like Atti's company.
Alastor stood as Attikus took his arm and tugged him along. He'd forgotten that he'd been hiding under the slide specifically because of the sun, but even so he wanted to go along with his new friend no matter what. He was slightly apprehensive about leaving the shade, but with Attikus's encouragement he stumbled out from his hiding place and followed the energetic boy to the parking lot as he'd mentioned a moment ago.
"Do you really know how to ride it?" He didn't think Atti was bluffing, but the thing didn't look very easy to control. It wasn't like his bicycle at home. It was just a flat board with four wheels, and honestly looked more dangerous than not. Was it even safe for Attikus to use?

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be For the boy it was a little weird, but nothing else really. He didn't know why it was supposed to bother him? Atti had always been allowed to do whatever he wanted. And no one could make him change his mind. Basically. With a small sigh he'd just hold his hand out to his friend again. Dragging him out towards the parking lot. Most of the kids were elsewhere. So it wasn't like they'd see anything else. Pretty much , at least that was what he thought. Though he'd rather let this go for the moment anyway. After all they were going out to play. Basically. Or so he thought. "Dude just come on! Let's go. It'll be fun." That was all Atti said as he dragged him along. He would not leave his friend behind. To him that was just rude in so many ways.
"Yea I know how to!" He just laughed, and set the board down, holding it up with his foot though. He would ride it around for Al for a bit, then try to drag him onto it. "Watch just stay there! and I'll show you!" He smirked then jumped on the board, spinning it around for a moment. Before he just went back to riding around Al. He was enjoying this way too much. Even when he probably shouldn't have been right now. Maybe? To him this was all about having fun, and nothing else. Wasn't it? At the very least he'd rather not deal with this, or dig into the awkward parts of things.
After spinning around for a bit, he paused and took Al's hand. Trying to pull him into the skateboard. "Put your arms around my waist, and let's go for a ride. Just hold on tight!" He would be gentle with his friend on there, but still. He just wanted to go for some form of a ride. That was all. He wouldn't dwell on those things too much, since it wasn't bound to help. The pair was here to have fun and enjoy time together after all.
Atti wanted to take Ai home now, and show him to his parents. Tell them he made a friend instead of just coming home with bruises. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Alastor could tell that Attikus was having fun riding on that thing, and it slowly made his worry fade after watching him move on it. He wasn't getting hurt at least, and Atti made it look easy to ride. Though he supposed the boy had far more skill than he did and for obvious reasons. He didn't think for a second that he'd be able to ride it still, therefore after he chuckled and watched Attikus stop in front of him again he looked at the boy a bit confused after he'd told him to grab a hold of him.
"Are you sure?" Alastor was uncertain of Attikus could handle the both of them standing on it, and he moved so fast it seemed scary, but he was already giving in as he said those words. Apprehensively he stepped forward pulling the sleeves of his shirt down over his forearms -absently feeling an unpleasant sting from the sun that met with his skin. He tested the board at first by stepping on it with one foot, then the other, though he felt so unstable and quickly wrapped his arms around Attikus to balance himself.
When they started moving, it only made him hold on tighter. Though Atti handle this far better than he thought he would, and as he slowly opened his eyes and took in their surroundings once more he tried to relax if only so he'd stop squeezing the life out of his new friend. "Where are we going?"

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be He knew his way around, he'd always know his way around. Either way the male would just enjoy this. Attikus thought about riding around some more, yet he also knew he needed to go home. Before it made his parents worry at the very least anyway, right? He didn't know anything about Al's parents. But if this was his parents they'd want him to be home too. So for now he'd just take his friend home, then his parents could take Al back home. Or something, his mom and dad would agree to that if Atti flashed the puppy eyes at them. Which he'd probably end up doing once they got there, it was truly his style. With a small smirk he just held onto his friend's hands for a moment then pushed the skateboard off again. He would leave the parking lot and go down the back streets. By now most of the back streets were empty. Most people were at home, or off other places with the family. He was going to take his new friend home.
But he needed to ask him first. Or well maybe not. Instead he wanted to just drag him home. Push him through the door so his parents couldn't say no, and Al couldn't either. Basically. Though would it even matter, probably not. They had other things to work through right now. And he knew it. "Totes sure just hold on tight!" He laughed, and just kept moving towards the house. It was a bit hard to steer but he was working on it. So for now he'd rather just figure this out some other way. At the very least right? He was not bothered by Al holding onto him tighter. He just kept on moving instead, trying to get somewhere with this. And figure out where he wanted to go next with these things.
Which right now was at home. Because he wanted to eat his mom's dinner. The good things she made always made him overeat sometimes. "To my house, mama is making dinner! you can eat with us and then we'll go from there. Now gonna make a turn up here." He turned and stumbled onto the grass, pulling the skateboard to a stop so his friend could get off. Didn't need to crash with him, but he also felt his ankle twist and it hurt a little bit. But that would be gone by morning, or once he started eating even. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Totes? Alastor had no idea what that meant but he couldn't help but to laugh. "You talk funny." He replied bluntly, moving as Attikus did so he wouldn't accidentally make them fall over. The sound of the skateboard grinding against the pavement was oddly comforting. It was like they were on the outside of a car, to be able to hear the wheels hum like that.
Alastor wondered what Atti's parents were like, and if his mother was a good cook. He hadn't thought about food until Attikus brought it up, and he wasn't all that hungry, but he couldn't be rude and refuse the hospitality of another. Deep down he was a bit excited to see what it was like for a human family to leave and eat together. Was their house big? Did they have pets?
Alastor didn't at all recognize the neighborhood that they found themselves in, but he kept such thoughts to himself. When Atti suddenly said that they were going to turn, Al held onto him tightly and braced himself. As Attikus stumbled, Alastor wavered, but despite the abrupt stop he managed to keep himself standing. After a moment to pause, and register that they weren't moving, Al slowly stopped off of the skateboard and reluctantly let go of Atti as well.
He felt slightly dizzy from his faint motion sickness, but after swallowing hard and standing up straighter he parted his lips to speak -still watching Attikus so intently. "Does your mother cook well?" He said, his right hand raising to itch his left forearm that just as well felt sore. He knew he was likely burned all over, but after a meal he was certain that he'd heal in a second.

| Never really stayed in one place Maybe that's the way it should be He talked funny? Well that was the first time he heard that, people usually said weird things about him. But never had Atti heard that from someone before. It was strange. Yet at least he got to hear Al laugh. He just laughed too, then went on skateboarding. Maybe he'd be able to teach his friend to do this on his own. So he'd at least get better by things? Right. That would at least be a start for them. He wanted to take him home, show him off to his parents. At least. That was good for him. With a small smile he just set the skateboard up against the house. Letting it rest there, not like anything would happen. The gates would be shut later in the night. His parents did not want him sleep walking out of the house like he used to. Like he did before. That had been bad, they found him in the middle of the street asleep. It was some miracle he didn't get hit by a car.
But not like he'd end up telling his friend that, it wasn't something he needed to know. And Attikus would feel awkward talking about it. With a shrug of his shoulders he just led his friend inside. Making sure to keep his friends hand tight in his. At the very least he'd be alright for now. One could hope anyway. He was trying in some form to make sense of these things. And not mess them up. At the very least. Though Attikus had a feeling it might not even do him any good either. His parents didn't lecture him. No they just appeared at the door smiling. His mother smelled of food, and various goodies. He was pleased that she had gone all out even though she had no idea he was bringing a friend over.
"My Momma is an epic cook! She can make whatever you want." Yes he was bragging about his mother, she was so good at cooking. And he loved to eat her food. Sometimes he thought his friends only came over to actually eat her food. At least, but they said they didn't. They loved her food yes. But the friends he had would never just come over for that reason. "Come on let's go into the kitchen! Mama can he stay and eat with us? He's a friend from the park, his name is Al!" He giggled as he spoke and didn't bother to wait for her to respond as he dragged him into the kitchen. That woman seemed to be used to this. She just walked in and set the table for another person. Smiling at the other child, she just introduced herself to Al and then asked him what he wanted for dinner.
She would not refuse food for the guest. At the very least. |

VOICES WON'T GO AWAY they stay for days and days They say some awful things, ways to make you fade away Alastor was startled when Attikus took his hand, but he didn't pull away. He certainly wasn't used to this kind of physical contact that didn't come from someone that he was related to, and even then some of his aunts and uncles were still fairly stiff and formal with him. Having little choice but to follow, Alastor walked with the red haired boy into the home. Once inside, a wave of warmth enveloped him kindly, a pleasant change from the outdoors.
Attikus spoke so enthusiastically about his mother, and he had no choice but to believe the boy because of it. The small smile that curled the corners of his lips faded as they entered the kitchen and Alastor saw the boy's mother there. She looked kind, and her smile seemed sincere too. Alastor's parents had always told him to respect his elders, and even though he was never supposed to bow to anyone because of his status, he suddenly felt the need here.
"Good evening miss, my names' A-" He couldn't even finish his polite introduction before he felt Attikus tugging him along. He stumbled forward after Atti, but gave him a slightly exasperated expression once they stopped in the kitchen. When the woman spoke to them, and even went so far as to ask Alastor what he wanted for dinner he looked up at her, flabbergasted and unsure of what to even say. He doubted that this woman would be able to recreate any of the fancy dishes he ate at home, and he was still so worried that he'd come off as rude if he asked for something that she couldn't make. So, after a long moment of silence from him he replied.
"I'll eat what he's going to eat."
