HUNTER, Jonathan Gallows

Gallows' childhood was a bit unconventional. The product of a one night stand between some nameless man and Veronica Gallows, a reputable American Hunter, known for her brutal and overzealous methods. Her preferred method of execution being hanging the battered body of the vampire from her Anti-Vampire weapon before watching it shatter into dust. Despite his unexpected arrival his mother adored him, though she showed it in her own special way. Gallows, or Johnny as he went by back then, spent the entirety of his life involved in the Vampire Hunter Association. Born in the Associations main headquarters and raised in various safe houses Gallows never lead a sedimentary life. The closest thing he could call a home was the Headquarters in which he spent most of the year while he wasn't with his mother. The longest he'd remained in one spot were his first three years. Looked over by his mother for the first year and then by various nursemaids and nannies.

Against the wishes of her superiors and allies she saw fit the drag the young boy with him from the time he was four. Johnny saw his first vampire before he could even spell his name and saw it die within the same hour. The family of two quickly fell into a routine Johnny became comfortable with. They would stay at the headquarters, get dispatched to the field, exterminate the target, and then go back home. Johnny was quickly desensitized to the notion of killing vampires. Unlike other Hunter families that sought out other teachers, Veronica trained her son herself between her own missions.

Veronica was a talented Hunter often considered to be one the best and brightest. It came as a shock to both her and the Association that her son showed little affinity for the Hunting arts. Veronica would not be dissuaded by her son's inabilities. She trained her son in a brutal fashion that bordered on and, on occasion, crossed the threshold of insanity. For years Johnny was subject to an onslaught of terrifying situations and with ever training exercise a new scar was added to his delicate flesh. With time though his flesh grew less delicate and eventually a change was noticed. It took years, but eventually Johnny's particular talents became apparent.

Johnny was thirteen when his physical abilities came to fruition. The came sporadically at first and always at random. The first time he tapped into his abilities was when he was trying to make something to eat in one of the safe houses his mother and him often inhabited. The young Hunter ripped the door clean of the fridge and in his surprise ended up flinging through a wall. For another year his powers came in spurts before he finally had them under control. Incident after incident dots his memory of the year and he rarely enjoys speaking about it. By the time he was fourteen he was brought along on his mother's hunts with the intention of being more a participant than an observer. In his own mind he was already done with his training and a full fledged Hunter until his mother sprang a surprise on him.

School... In his entire life Johnny had never once stepped foot in a school house. Everything he knew had been imparted on to him by his mother and while he knew the basics he was severely lacking in most regards. She also wanted him to spend time around vampires in a more contained and calm environment. At the age of sixteen he was dropped off at a bus station with a ticket to Ravenal, Colorado and a book bag filled with clothes. Upon his graduation his mother promises to induct him as a full fledged Hunter and member of the Association, but only if he graduates.

As a Hunter, Gallows is physically superior to the average human. He possess most of the abilities granted to hunters to aid them in their mission. Enhanced physiology and senses, the power to sense vampires, and a regenerative ability. While Gallows these powers he does not seem to have them in the same proportions as other Hunters and completely lacks others. His more magical abilities are weakened to the point of being nonexistant. He is unable to senses vampires at a distant is only capable of recognizing them upon sight. While some Hunters have shown the power to use spells Gallows has no aptitude whatsoever. Every attempt ending in a very anticlimactic fizzle. He even has difficulty utilizing Anti-vampire weaponry. Often having most weapons reject him outright. 

To compensate for this Gallows' physical abilities exceed those of the average hunter. Placing him on par with a C rank vampire in this regard. Even his regenerative abilities are enhanced beyond those of a Hunter though it's not perfect, as his scarred body stands testament to. He's still very much human and very mortal. Due to his inclination towards physicality Gallows specializes in hand-to-hand combat.
