HUNTER, Gilligan Kaine

When Gilligan was younger, he and his family, namely his sister, spent a lot of time together. They knew of the existance of vampires and his parents always told stories to him and his sister about how they acted or what they were like. While his sister Monica seemed to take a fansy to vampires and the way they seemed to work, Gilligan took the opposite approach. He didn't much care for them (although he wouldn't consider it dislike) and only hoped he wouldn't have to meet one.

As the two of them grew up, he'd tag along with his older sister wherever she'd let him. He was like her little protective puppy who'd bite at the ankles of anyone who dare frown at her, although that might be a bit of an understatement. The moment she stopped wanting him around so much, his feelings were a bit hurt. She was his beest friend after all, and he didn't have many other friends to be with if she wasn't around. Weeks passed and he began to see her less and less. She wouldn't let him tag along anymore and he soon figured out that she'd been sneaking out at nights and had been lying to their parents about where she had been. One night, when he was around 17 and his sister 19, he decided to follow her out of the house one night while she snuck out to see where she would go while she left him behind and he did not like what he saw. There were parties, if that's what you'd call them, where vampires and humans would fraternize, among other things. Losing his sister in the crowd for a moment after being pulled aside by a curious creature, he escaped her company to search for his sister, only to find her pinned under a vampire.

He couldn't quite understand what he saw at first, but when he saw the blood and heard his sister's noises, he snapped and attacked the man. Had his sister not stopped her lover, surely her brother might have been killed. Instead of taking the time to explain the situation, she only mentioned that she loved the man and cast him away, saying that she'd never be home again, that they would run away together. He never knew what happened to her after that, and he hasn't seen her since. He spends time sometimes searching for her, but with no success. Now he teaches at Arden Academy, using their resources to help find her, though no one knows about it. He still isn't very fond of vampires, or very trusting towards them, but he bares them no ill will and continues to work alongside them (even though he avoids them when possible).

Gilligan has this special ability. When in combat with another (and has his wits about him) he can actually see things moving faster than they are, meaning that they're actually moving slow enough got him to block it. I would seem to an opponent that he can predict their moves, but such is not the case. The delay is maybe only a second, which still leaves times for him to be caught off guard. Otherwise, he is excellent in hand to hand combat as well as sword play.

He likes: romantic dinners, his alone time, teaching. He dislikes: vampires feeding on humans, feeling threatened, admitting his feelings (when he doesn't think they'll be returned). He always wears high collars or something around his neck. Its a habit he picked up on that he doesn't intend to let go of, especially not working around so many vampires.
