His parents were not planning to have children at first, they were flirty vampires that just ran around having fun and enjoying life. Till one mishap ended with them being pregnant with the first out of the ten children they would have. The soon to be family was hidden away from view till the child was born. Hunters, other vampires or anyone might be out to get them. The family had always been on the hunter's watch list. Since other members of Ryu's family didn't listen to the not drinking human blood thing. And each time they got caught, it made the family move up on that list. When she finally did have the first child, she convinced her husband that they needed to leave. And late at night they packed up the day old baby and fled. No word to any of the family, they were just gone. With the move, and freedom from hunters they had finally settled down. Having child after child until they ended up with ten. Ryu being the middle child with a twin.

Out of all the children he was the reckless one, he would go out during the day. Not caring if his skin burned or got hurt. He wanted to play with the normal kids. Those ones that lived around them, but his parents kept trying to keep him from talking to. They would pull him back and lecture him. Saying he'd hurt those children or anyone that was just human, and as a special boy like him he was not allowed to be near them. But of course he didn't listen, he'd sneak out during the day while his family slept to go play with a child down the street. His best friend was a human, Ryu might have been making a mistake. But he wasn't entirely aware of the rules. He knew they couldn't feed from humans. And he tried not to, he would just force his body to deal with human food when he was around his friend.

As a Level B he thought he'd have more control. But that was not entirely true. Ryu had skipped his meal for the day to go out with his friend. The whole time these bullies pushed him, and pushed him. Till the point where he snapped at them, and took a bite out of one of them. The blood tasted gross, and poisoned so he pulled back and spat at the boy. Yes he scared them because they ran away leaving urine trails. He almost didn't know what to do about that. All he could do was look back at his friend who was looking at him as if he was frozen in place. Ryu tried to approach his friend only to be slapped. Slapped and lectured by his friend? His friend had a lot of questions but Ryu couldn't tell him. Alerting him to the fact that he was a vampire just couldn't happen. And yet it did, he told his best friend what he was. What he had to do to survive, and how his family was.

Ryu should have known that was a mistake, he had gotten a human involved with them. By telling them what he was, and what he did to live. Which was one of those breaking the rules sort of things. He could only hope the council never found out. He did not want to erase his friend's memories. But they had been hanging out one day, and his friend brought him a raw steak with the blood in it. What he didn't know was this time his brother had followed him, then went back to tell his parents. Not that he'd know that till he got home and his father dragged him up the stairs to give him an hour long lecture. Which ended with the forced agreement to erase his friend's memories about what had been said.

At the age of fourteen he had erased the memories of the only human who knew what he was, and stopped spending as much time with him as well. He'd still send letters back and forth when his parents weren't watching. But they wanted to keep a close eye on the vampire boy. They'd home-schooled the boy ever since that incident, waiting for a proper school for Ryu. Ryu eventually got bored, and started to sneak out again. He'd get into fights with people, anything to keep him interested. Though he never went so far as to kill a person. Ryu was just a big trouble maker that had been sent to Arden to help there. Being a teacher or helper whichever he is, and teaching students, vampires and humans to live together but also keep to the rules was not entirely part of his plan.

Unlike others of his kind he does not hate, or fear hunters. He will work with them if it suits his needs. But other then that he wants nothing to do with any of them.

Ice Manipulation - Ryu can shape and manipulate ice, and freeze water to suit his needs. Though he can just make it on his own, if he has the chance he'll take it from icicles, ice patches, glaciers and anything made of ice. Unlike others in his family, his power is developed but he doesn't use it unless really needed.
